THE TWELVE APPLE TREES OF CHRISTMAS!
Twelve unique and precious apple trees from Brogdale are up for grabs!
Did you know that when you buy an apple tree, it has almost certainly been grafted. This is because if you plant an apple pip, it doesn’t grow into the same variety of apple as the fruit it came from. So grafting is the answer!
Fruit tree grafting has been practiced for thousands of years. It uses the root stock of a tree as a host for a ‘bud’ from the variety being grown.
Grafting fruit trees
The trees in the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale are grown this way to ensure the varieties do not change. At Brogdale we have expert grafters at Grow at Brogdale who graft from our own heritage trees as they can sell unique trees grafted from the National Fruit Collection. They have grafted 12 different trees especially for us as our fabulous Christmas give-away. Find out below how to win an apple tree with Brogdale Collections.
